What exactly is EFT?

EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) is a powerful holistic healing technique that resolves a range of issues. It's based on the combined principles of ancient Chinese acupressure and modern psychology.

EFT is also called “Tapping” as a general term, because we are literally tapping on end-points of meridians on our body.

The basic Tapping technique requires you to focus on a negative emotion at hand. This can be a fear, a worry, a bad memory, or any unresolved problem. You do this while maintaining your mental focus on this issue. Then you use your fingertips to tap 5-7 times on specific meridian points of the body.

Tapping on these meridian endpoints, while addressing the root cause of distress, sends a calming signal to the brain. This allows you to feel relaxed and in control.

The Oxford Dictionaries definition of emotion is "A strong feeling deriving from one's circumstances, mood, or relationships with others."

How does EFT work?

Have a look at this short video, where I am showing you the first tapping series. It maybe looks a little bit strange at first sight. But once you did try it, you will feel the results.

  1. You think about your problem.

  2. You rate its intensity on a scale from 0 to 10.

  3. You connect with the negative emotion behind your problem.

  4. You create a sentence, in which your problem is integrated.

  5. You start to tap on several points on your body and say certain

  6. statements, while focusing on the problem and the feeling.

  7. You test the result after several rounds of tapping.

P.S.: It's even working, when you're NOT believing in it ;-)!

Guiding – Following - Interacting

We will begin with talking about your situation and you explain me some of the most important aspects. When it occurs, where do you feel it in the body, what is connected with it an what you are thinking about it.

Then we will start several tapping rounds, observing how you are feeling the emotion after each round. Sometimes new aspects are popping up and we also can follow them.


We are working as a team, using your words.  You are guiding me through your changes so that I can guide you into the next round of tapping with it.

Homework and a Note

Sometimes there are so-called “one minute wonders” happening in EFT.


For example there was a woman, struggling with big knee pain for the last 20 years, being pain free after just some rounds of tapping. But very often it is good to continue the tapping back home on a daily basis, so that your energy body can transform more and more of the blocked energy around your issue.

Very often an EFT session will take about an hour, depending on the subject.

Kindly note that I am not healing you, but guiding you through a self-healing process. If your situation, your trauma, is too big for the two of us, it definitely will make sense to contact a psychologist, maybe even before starting with EFT.

But, there are endless success stories about people getting well with EFT after a trained doctor couldn’t help. In my opinion that sounds like it is worth to try – trusting your inner wisdom.

Today I was allowed to have my first EFT experience under Elke's guidance.

Elke's first EFT Experience

I grew up in a home without shouting, yelling, arguing, which maybe sounds great. But it was the lack of expressing anger that my very first EFT teacher discovered.

It was amazing how my body reacted – just by mentally allowing myself to be angry with this person….
